Hi Everybody,
Cloning from layer to layer continues to be a problem in PP X6.
Sometimes it works. Sometimes it does not work.
Yes. I know what is happening but I don't like it. I can get around
it but I still don't like it.
How about in X7, the clone tool include a source and target dialog for
the clone tool -- or doesn't anyone else care.

Hi Phil,

I take it you mean it clones from all layers, rather than just from the layer you selected your source point from? It is rather annoying. There needs to be a checkbox to clone from source point layer only or all layers.

Just as an aside, as you know, Photo-Paint, by default, clones in a similar manner to having the Aligned checkbox ticked in Photoshop. To have your clone keep reverting back to the souerce point (where you right-clicked) as it works in Photoshop with the Aligned checkbox unticked, hold down Alt+Shift (make sure you press Alt first!) and then right-click and clone. As long as Alt+Shift is continued to be held down, you can release the mouse button, move to another area of the image and start cloning again. Cloning will commence from the original source point again.

I don' think I worded that very well lol.

Best regards,
Brian.

Hi Brian,
1. Thanks for the reply.
2. I’m not sure what I meant. It’s been a constant source of annoyance
since Version 5. I can live with it by cloning to a new transparent layer
and then combining that new layer with the layer where I really want it.
3. The most mysterious part of it all is that no one else has made a big
fuss about it. Otherwise Corel would have fixed it years ago.
.. In any case, I’m still staying with PhotoPaint. The interface
in PhotoShop CS5 is intolerable. I also like Curves in PP better than the
version in PS. -- especially the Straight option and the fact that the
histogram moves as I move the curve.
.. However, my over-riding reason for preferring PP is the ability to
make my own command bars and use my own icons on them. Corel should make it
a more obvious on how to create command bars and place icons on them for new
users. Forty three icons grouped by function is light years ahead of forty
three keyboard shortcuts.
