Most probably you have accidently installed a toolbar that is the culprit. Read how to remove/uninstall it here. Most of my clients succeded in rectifying this issue by removing Searchqu toolbar

Searchqu is one that is affecting a lot on many users' machines. There could be few more that could be creating issues. Do you have any such tool bars installed ? Try disabling all extra toolbars from Addon manager in your browser and also uninstall it with an uninstaller for the toolbar if you have it in the installed list of programs. Hope this works.

I think also then run Ccleaner to eliminate leftover registry entries that might be causing confusion.

Ccleaner is free and trusted, unlike many similar products which operate as scareware and ransomware (a free version says you have a problem which only the paid version can fix -- but it was probably the free version which planted the problem in the first place).

There is also a Knowledgebase article on this issue at:

http://corel.force.com/index/articles/en_US/Master_Article/000013752-How-to-resolve-Error-998-in-CorelDraw?retURL=%2Fapex%2Fkbsearchresultspage%3FapplicationSubCategory%3DNONE%26keyWords%3D998%26lang%3Den_US%26productSubCategory%3DNONE%26productTopCategory%3DNONE%26subTopicCategory%3DNONE%26subTopicCategoryText%3DNONE%26topicCategory%3DNONE%26topicCategoryText%3DNONE&popup=false&lang=en_US&productTopCategory=NONE&applicationSubCategory=NONE&productSubCategory=NONE&topicCategory=NONE&topicCategoryText=NONE&subTopicCategory=NONE&subTopicCategoryText=NONE&articleId=kA060000000L4ZZ

I see you've already resolved the issue by removing the toolbar but I have linked the step by step instructions for the benifit of others who may visit the forum and would like to see how to do the procedure.
