    Re: CorelDraw X4 & XP SP3

I don't think SP3 is still in beta testing as it was release today on 'Window Update'.

I got the XP SP3 notification yesterday and passed. I think I'll wait until
I hear good reports about it. So far I've yet to hear anything good and
users on the forums who claim they are running SP3 (probably a beta) have
complained of lots of CorelDRAW problems.

Pretty sad when we all get excited over a service pack....

I get excited over a Service Pack, but not those of MS. Those, I take a 'wait and see' attitude, and that comes from being bitten a time or two.

    Re: CorelDraw X4 & XP SP3

I wonder if Corel have try SP3 with X4? Would be good to hear of them.

I must say that I would prefer a SP from Corel for X4 Smile

    Re: CorelDraw X4 & XP SP3

I tried the last RC of SP3 seemed fine but I removed it when trouble shooting another issue.

I'd say it's safe but make sure an do a system recovery point first case you change your mind.

I asked around yesterday and we did some testing with X4 on Windows XP SP3... so far, we are not aware of anything specific to SP3, but we will only support Windows SP3 with the up-coming CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 SP1 (sorry, I cannot give you a date yet, all I can say is that we are working on it).

Reading through the last sentence, I just noticed that I was able to put the letters SP 4 times in there... oups, just added one more to the post Stick out tongue

Better than typing "Service Pack" over and over again...

    Re: CorelDraw X4 & XP SP3

Yep. Sorry, my information was a day out of date. Considering the
ballyhoo that M$ have always made of prior SPs, I figured they would
have had simultaneous announcements in all the world capitals, so I
    missed it.

Some of you with more than one machine to feed may want to know that
there is an ISO 9660 CD image of it available WAY down this M$ downloads
    page:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/Browse.aspx?displaylang=en&categoryid=7

When I say WAY down the page I mean WAY down the page. Easiest way to
find it on that page is to "find" "ISO".

or you can find it directly here (watch the wrap!!!)

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2fcde6ce-b5fb-4488-8c50-fe22559d164e&DisplayLang=en

From that you can use NERO or similar to burn a CD; be sure to burn it
    as "image", not data.

I am in the process of cautiously installing it from the burned CD, on
my secondary computer as I write. If that seems OK I will, with great
trepidation, install it on my primary machine, and then my consulting
clients' machines. Burning the CD image when one has 4 computers to
apply it to eventually is a heck of a lot easier than going through the
    painfully slow Windows update!

    Re: CorelDraw X4 & XP SP3

I have two machines with WinXP Pro installed (And X4, too). On my backup machine, I have just installed SP3 (for WinXP) and I am making sure that everything remains stable. I will upgrade my main workhorse from SP2 to SP3, after I am satisfied that I will find no problems.

So far, so good. But I am still cautious.

    EDIT:

One more thing, these are AMD Athlon CPU's, and there was a cautionary note about SP3 and AMD CPU's. Something about endless reboots instead of a normal startup. So far, I have not experienced that, but then again, my PC's are custom built and do not come from the manufacturers whose products exhibit this phenomenon.

Been using SP3 & before that SP3 RC2 for two months with no problems at all on XP Pro. Works fine with the full X4 suite as well.
