    Idea [I] Fills

Really disappointing that nothing has been done since V8's fills:

    • A "tree" based view would be really cool: the basic "style" as the root and saved styles listed off of it. (Texture|Blended Edges|Saved1 or Fountain|Radial|Saved1...etc)
    • have a quick preview thumbnail for each of the saved textures
    • It would be nice to attach a custom "class" or "library" field to a saved fill - "V8 samples","V9 samples" etc.
    • If there is a tree view, then have the option of choosing how the tree is arranged "by style" or "by class" (ie the 'sort order')
    • Have transparency as an integral part of a fill (and part of the "object properties")
    • Have the options seen under the "Pattern Fills" common to all fills (the origin, size, offset, ...)
    • Be able to dock each of the fill dialogues (in the same way as the colour docker is for flat fills): take them out of the "object properties" docker and have their own one.
      • The docker automatically updating the object selected if the fill is of that type (button to "apply current fill" that would grey out if it already was)
      • A 'set as default' button (rather than selecting nothing with a 'locked' fill as it is just now)
      • A lock/paint button to apply the current fill to any object selected (Like r-dragging and selecting 'copy fill/outline here')
    • Colour Fills
      • Toggle Button to "tint" rather than "fill" when clicking with a selected colour (perhaps a different fill icon/cursor/tool?)
    • Fountain fills
      • Replace the drop down linear/radial/conical/square with buttons
      • Have the 'preview' window twice as big with the 'fill area' being a box you can drag/shape/select/rotate over the fill. Have another 'linked' window with a true preview of what the fill looks like in the shape selected, for the area in the preview window.
      • Be able to drag the edge pad and any colour points from within the preview window (be able to add/delete them too by button and dragging)
      • Combine the "two colour" and "custom" colour options into the one component (a line/below beside the preview?) Option on this component to flip. Show the blend as a linear blend and be able to drag colours to and from here.
      • Choose which colour palette view to use for colour selection (Pallets same as the existing ones in the dockers - perhaps even drag between the colour dockers and this dialogue?)
      • Highlight each colour used in the fill on the palette
      • Be able to change the 'blend type' between each set of colour nodes to be liner, clockwise or anti-clockwise (as per existing 2 colour blend)
      • Additional fill type of "Sunray" fill that would be like a cross between "Conical" and "Linear" fills: a linear fill with perspective added.
    • Texture fills
      • In the styles where there are multiples of the same style with the only change being the numbers of colours, reduce them to the one style and simply have a drop-down ("+" button?) to add another colour layer.
      • Use a colour mixer to show all the (selected) colours used in that texture on the one palette.(Perhaps <ctrl> click on it as a short-cut to add a new one)
      • Various "common" effects/variables could be applied to a texture: Scale, Skew, Rotation, Perspecitive, Blur, Hue/Tint
      • Layered textures; have the ability to add various layers to the same texture (each layer being another texture with a transparency value and a "merge mode")
      • "Wrap" tic box option to ensure the edges of the texture tie in with the edges at the other side.
    • Postscript fills
      • These are vectors. Draw is a vector program. Why can't you add/edit these (export?) or the variables?
      • Automatic preview (with transparency grid so you can see what's solid or not)
      • Be able to change the line colour and thickness as per any other line drawn
      • Break the fill into (editable) lines/shapes
    • Pattern fills
      • "2 colour fills" should be changed to "monochrome" fills and be able to be vector as well. The tint would be applied to the fill as a lens with black being solid and white being transparent. Perhaps it deserves a separate fill type.
      • "Full Colour" and "Bitmap" shouldn't (doesn't) make any difference.

    Re: Fills

    Additional stuff:

Can the "Square" fountain fill actually be a rectangle rather than a fixed square? (ie squish the opposite axis like you can with the oval or bitmap fill)

Additional fountain fill of "Feather" that will feather fill from the edges of the object to the center. (default start colour of the pen colour and end colour of the fill colour)

Can the "start" of the fountain (for all that have a center - ie not linear) be changed/dragged (perhaps dragged with a control key?) so that it's not in the centre of the fill? Like an inner edge pad.
