Copy and Paste Problem from Browsers

I've used Corel Draw forever (since ver 2) and I have never run into this problem until recently...

I am an avid fan of copying and pasting web images for visual examples into my Draw files.

Recently, I started using Opera browser and found that I could not right mouse click, copy and paste an image into Corel. What happens is the larger the image the longer it seems to take processing but it just vanishes in thin air with no image pasted.

Ok, so the easy thing to do is switch to FireFox. No problem until FF3 was installed and now I have the same problem. Sure I can stoop to IE, but really, I don't want to go there.

    Any thoughts anyone?

My next step is to reinstall or upgrade from X3 to X4 but was wondering if anyone else has this issue.

    Otherwise, Corel Draw rocks!

never had a problem with FF2 or 3. You can also just drag an image off a
    page as well.

Yes, same problem here with FF3

only workaround for the moment seems to be to print screen and then crop

or... save image to disk and import.

    or use IE

FF3 has different clipboard contents than IE when copying a small single color GIF off a page to clipboard. Draw doesn't like it. I checked in Clipboard Viewer. Try copying and pasting red GIF below from IE and from FF3.

Hunter, when I drag image from FF3 to Draw's page, I only get the URL copied.

Thanks for confirming my copy and paste problem, Jeff.

Does this also happen with the latest version of Corel Draw?

Yes both X3/X4.  Seems FF 3 is simply different than before. :-(

yeah, I'm getting that, too. I always just right-click and choose the Copy
Image option; that never fails for me. What's odd, though is that I can
drag/drop images from FF3 to the desktop, but yeah, into Draw or Photopaint
    it's giving a URL. I don't recall this happening with FF2... I'll have to
see if I still have FF2 on my laptop and test it.

It's an odd thing... I can right-click and copy and do a File |New from
Clipboard in PP (12-X4) with no problems, but Draw X3, X4, even v12 will not
take it. IE 6 is fine... I'll see if I still have FF2 on my laptop to test
    today.

The lappy has FF2 and X4 without the SP. This combo works as desired. I'm
going to apply the SP to the laptop and see if it's the SP or FF that is the
culprit. Since I'm getting the same issues with older versions of
Draw/Photopaint, my gut feeling is that FF is the problem.

Yep, it's strictly a FF3 issue, guys. I just applied the SP on my laptop
which still has FF2 on it. FF2 does the drag/drop or copy/paste just fine.

I just logged on to Bugzilla and this bug was reported to Mozilla/Firefox
    back on 6/3/2008 - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437535 and
it looks like this is affecting many more apps than just the Corel ones.

Just a quick note... tried copy and paste from ff3 into photoshop (V7) and it works fine.  What does it all mean? Big Smile

it means that FF3 is doing something different with the clipboard than in
previous versions. Corel apps are not the only ones affected.

My current workaround is to install the IE Tab extension for firefox. Then drag and copy/ paste work fine. ">

Re: Copy and Paste Problem from Browsers

Thanks! That does the trick. To be more specific, here's the link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419

Once installed, right mouse click and open in IE tab. The image will now copy and paste into Corel from the IE tab page.

So, inadvertently, still stuck with IE and a little workaround, but it works.

Thanks for everyone's help and input on this issue.
