    Icon Pallette?

I remember reading that to make new icons for X4 I need to use the native pallette. Does anybody know which pallette X4 uses? I just loaded SP1 and I'm finally ready to try using X4 for more of my work, but creating gray icons just isn't going to cut it with my highly customized workspace.

Create the icons in Photo-Paint. Save as BMP. Import into CorelDRAW. You
shouldn't have any palette limits if you do this.

Small icons are 16x16, Medium are 24x24. Large are 32x32 but there is no way
to load a customized large icon.

    Re: Icon Pallette?

I am trying to create icons for some macros but run into a problem. Have tried 16x16 and 24x24 pix as both bmp and ico format. The trouble is Corel doesnt import them properly, all colour is converted to grayscale. Any solution?

Here is a little trick I learned, thanks to some anonymous person on this forum (IIRC).

When you have the icons table open for selecting an icon (or importing one), first, select an icon from the table, that has color in it. That will set the icon pallete to color mode. Then you can import your color icons that you created.

Thanks for the tip. I have tried, and depending on which icon I select before importing mine (bmp 16x16x24) the colours are shifting, perhaps according to which colours are present in the icon/pallette corel has used?

No matter what I do, the pen colors are all grayscale.

Isn't your icon (bmp 16x16x24) a bit too much in color depth, I mean shouldn't it something like 16x16x16 or 16x16x8?

Have tried with both 8 and 24 bit colour depth bmp and ico, same problem. With X3 everything is fine, so this must be a X4 problem. Corel, add this issue to the wishlist for SP2 please.
