Happy to report no problems untill......

Wel all its Mr happy again. I am realy excited to report no problems with Corel Draw x4 Since my last post. BECAUSE I HAVENT USED IT AT ALL HAHAHAHABig Smile Today after lunch I was horified to find I had to use it again. I launched draw on my old box, on which I had removed just about all software that may conflict with this pissy lil program. Low and behold SEVEN count em SEVEN crashes on three different files in less than 4 hours. Isnt that wonderful? I happened upon the service pack 1 for 14. I am currently d/ling it now. Sadly, NONE of the issues covered by the service pack have presented a problem for me here. I will install anyway. I still havent reset my workspace as it is such a daunting task. I will wait for 15 to come out in a couple of hours (errrr months sorry)Zip it! So for what its worth, it appears that Foster, I believe, was right. (forgive me if it wasnt Foster). DO NOT USE UR WORKSPACE FROM AN OLDER VERSION. or so it seems.

Just as a point of interest, On my new box, I have been using Adobe After effects, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premier, Adobe Photoshop and Bridge, all cs3 along with 3ds max 2009 sp1. for the last couple of weeks. Adobe after effects crashed twice in that time space. Thats it. no other problems. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmConfused

    Sincerely

    Andy

It was so quiet... I thought "Mr. Happy" had found nirvana and kept it to himself! Well Andy, give it up. Quit your job, join the French Foreign Legion (think they'll take you if you don't tech speak), or you can dress in orange and pass out leaflets.

I have found a nagging issue so far with X4 since installing the SP1.

Overlapped a tif on top of some text which had an interactive shadow, and the part of the overlap from the tif put a partial shadow from it too! Very strange. So I broke the text/shadow apart to eliminate (which worked).

I think Foster is probably correct. But if he isn't, there is only one other explanation - your business is haunted. Flame on dude!

Andy, your problem is not normal. Of course, some people have conflicts with CorelDRAW, in the same way that other people have problems with other software. Yesterday, for example, in my work, InDesing crashes 5 times in a hour, in a Mac G5 You can't evaluate a program only for a single experience, I

Every software has a small number of users who have many more problems than average. Unfortunately you are in that minority.

Perhaps I am in the minority who have many fewer problems than average. I leave CorelDraw running on my computer for days at a time. That means no computer restarts or CorelDraw restarts - *days* at a time, even at night because I don't shut my computer down. I saw my first "Send Error Report" type crash ever on X4 the other day, and that was when CorelDraw was sharing resources with Outlook, Zune, MS Word, Excel, Firefox, Skype, World Community Grid, Super Antispyware, Avast anti-virus, and even World of Warcraft all running at the same time. So it didn't really bother me much. My experience with CorelDraw differs vastly with your "pissy" description. By saying that, I don't doubt for a moment the issues you've had with the product.

And hey I've had "those" apps that simply seem to hate me alone, while the majority of users offer the unhelpful, "Well it works fine for me." So I feel your pain. And fortunately for me, I don't share your pain.

At this point it seems that you have given up on CorelDraw and you expect it to fail, and somehow even seem vindicated when it does. That state of mind will never prove to be fruitful or constructive.

Maybe you should take the "living with your mother-in-law" approach: Give it an honest effort to make it work the best you can while you're stuck together, but let the anger go because otherwise it'll drive you crazy.

    Big Smile

as an old user, I can say that 90% of the problems that I have seen with CorelDRAW are for Windows, or they have their origin in the operating system...

    HI A,

I keep the systems I consult for running squeaky clean, and the each client has different versions of Draw. Really never had any significant annoying problems with any. Ver 10 poofs on occasion at one place, but only when I push it hard. But, the habit I got into many years ago with ALL windows progs is to press CTRL + S every 5 min or so.
