     Hi Ted,
          Thanks.
I never noticed the tabs because they are so light.  I wonder if Corel will ever follow any suggestions for improving this forum.
I fixed the double space problem by holding down SHIFT before hitting ENTER.  Should I bother to let Corel know.

Phil, can you provide more details of what problems you are encountering with CorelDRAW.com and I'll be happy to have a look and see if there is anything that can be done. Not sure I understand your "double space" problem. If you refer to the text editor, it is normal behavior as it is creating a new paragraph when you press the ENTER key, while it adds a line break when you press the SHIFT+ENTER keys.

    Re: email notifications

    Hi Gerard,
    1. My super giant complaint is that everyone should use the News Group for ordinary posts.
    2. News Groups and Outlook Express in particular have a simple and excellent layout scheme.  The layout is similar to that in Windows explorer which has been universally used in a good many other programs. The Corel Graphics suite uses this layout for Open, Save, etc.  Why not here  in corel.draw.
    3.  The layout for posts in this forum is terrible.  One only sees about four posts per page.
    4. There is no flyout to show who has answered to what.
    5.  It is a non-organized listing by date of arrival.
    6.  I can't find a HELP section.  How am I supposed to know where to look to change my email address -- if it can even be done.
    7. There is no way to label anything as "Mark as Read" or "Catch Up".
    8.  There is obviously something wrong here if so many people have posted that they are using these forums from a browser.  Isn't that enough to show that the forum layout is terrible.
    9.  Posting from a browser results in a wierd mix of fonts.  I'm not interested in why it happens.  It should be fixed.
    10.  The HTML bar does not have a choice of fonts.  Perhaps a HELP section would guide me to one.
    11.  The tabs in Edit Profile are hardly noticeable.  In fact, Edit Profile is hardly noticeable.
    12.   How about a menu bar such as appears everywhere else -- Outlook Express, DRAW, PhotoPaint, etc.
    13.  This place needs a test forum for the same reason it appears in all the News Groups.  I can test things of no interest to anyone but myself.
    14.  How about an enlarge function for posts such as appears in Outlook Express.  A limit of 12 lines of text at a time is irritating.
    14.  Do not belittle the idiotic double space when hitting enter.  It is not normal behavior.   It has never happened before to me in a text editor going back to Word Star.  It does not happen in PhotoPaint when entering text.  No one wants to know why it happens.  It needs to be fixed.
    Phil
PS:  Stay tuned.  I'm just getting warmed up.

    Hi Gerard,
        Let me add.
    1.  How about adding the capability to delete previous posts when replying.  Do I have to go through several miles of previous posts to read "I agree".
    2. Tell the people what "Tags" and "Select Tags" mean.
    Phil
PS:  You have gotten me into deep trouble with my wife.  She says that she will not give me a bottle of beer with supper unless I stop hollering every time I get a double space when I hit ENTER.

    Hi Gerard,
    1.    A FIND function would be nice.  Then after I read a post in Outlook Express, I can come here to find the post to look at the picture.
    2.    Or to look where I can REPLY  with ordinary fonts.
    3.     How about sending the picture over to the browser.
    4.  Just in case, no one noticed.  Copying a  post from here and inserting it into WORD requires some replacing and Paragraph editing to make it look like normal typing.
    Phil
PS:  Hey.  Look out.  My wife says that she is going to hit me over the head with the beer bottle if I keep on shouting.

Either via your Profile Options or the Tab, you can have the expanded view. When using the "Threaded View", rt click on the thread and click on "Expand all replies". You will have a threaded view (like in OE) but also a line linking replies to the particular posts.

    Hi Ted.
       Thanks for the info.
That helps on a per thread basis.  However, you still don't get the same sequential layout of all threads as in OE or Windows Explorer, or Save, Open, etc.  Also all the useless white space around alll the listings just makes it harder to find anything and it means a good deal fewer listings per page for all posts.
Am I imagining this.  The listings at the beginning of a forum do not seem to appear in accordance with the date of the initial thread.  Rather they appear in accordance with the date of the last REPLY.  Thus if I post "I agree" to an ancient thread, it pops up to the top of the list.
I just can not get used to holding down SHIFT before hitting ENTER.  Perhaps I am not normal.
        Thanks again for the info.

    Re: email notifications

    Hello Phil,

Remember that you are talking to a someone that cut his teeth with BBS. To me the Forum layout is nice to look at (if you have the "extra" time to spare) but for bread'n butter functionality.....the Newgroups layout is the only way to go. I use NTTP to access / post / reply to the forum posts all the while I am keeping an eye on all 80 email providers, other newsgroup and forums' pages. Without changing the screen I can see all the activity at the same time....impossible under any forums' layout.

I'm from the generation that started with penny-pinching dial-up bandwith. Right now I've got a 10MB cable connection that can transfer, access and receive more information in a minute than I could in a full 24 hours years ago. In the "beginning", you paid $$ every time the net / mail was accessed. Now it's on 24/7 for about a buck-a-day (well, $38.50 a month actually).

The newer generation of computer users takes all of it (high speed connections and pizzaz) for granted when surfin'. Just wait till they get in a business where time IS money. THEN they will realize that function is more important than form and the "candy" will take second place to the efficiency of the newsgroup / NTTP way of doing things !

    Ted

(via NTTP while in OE and checking four other posts and two email accounts for replies....at the same time as writing this reply.)

I wondered that too, Ted !

If you prefer the newsgroup format are you more likely to be self-employed?

     Self-employed here.

Use the Web forum several times a day. Only visit the Newsgroups a couple of times a month. I used to be on the cnews server several times a day. It seems like the real content is here now.

    I prefer here.
