    having trouble with the x3

I have x3 installed on a vista laptop, and whenever I am working on something, it seems to work fine, then all of a sudden I will click on an object, or lettering or scroll down the page, and the page will go blank.  Sometimes I can see what was part or the 'view' before I scrolled or clicked, and sometimes the whole thing goes blank.

If I try to zoom out or in, it just stays blank.  So I have to save it right where I am and then close the page and re-open it. And just repeat the process if it happens again.  Sad

    Can anyone help?

Totally feel the pain in this.
Could be what Richard/Fluid said, but have you also installed the Service Pack for X3??

Thats for me a classic thing to look at.

You might also try to look at which programs are running, if any you recognize and if they take up to much, like Norton Internet Security, Firefox or Internet Explorer going "mad".
Try presseing Ctrl+Alt+Delete to check that.

If the Laptop is just a year old, try to see if you need to install the Service Pack for Vista. Via the update in Windows. I know that many people earlier was complaining a lot about Windows Vista before Microsoft came out with the Service Pack. LIke a year ago or so, if my memory isnt to wrong.

that isn't memeory, that's free hard drive space - two totally different
things. how much RAM does it have? Is the video card separate or built-on to
the motherboard? If it's a built-on card, that uses your RAM, too, instead
of its own Video RAM that would be built on to the "separate" video card.

Just press Ctrl + W anytime you need to refresh your screen. Does it help?

I remember something similar a while back... it was related to the advanced features of the mouse driver / trackpad of the laptop. Can you try disabling the advanced features or even de-install the mouse drivers and replace them with the standard Microsoft mouse drivers to see if this helps. I believe a work-around for this was added to X4 SP1. The other option is to update your mouse driver.
