Create text effect like in photoshop

    Hi,

I am trying to create similar effects like when done in photoshop, the inner glow, outerglow, some smooth bevel.

The only effect I found that could be done on the text are the strokes and emboss, shadow.

Could someone explain how to go around creating something similiar in corel?

    Thank You

I am used to create such effects in Corel Draw (in due to more flexibility). When you try around with dropshadows, glow and powerclips, the results could be similar to Photoshop. Or you wait till my site is online end of october - I'll offer some macro extensions for Corel Draw and Photopaint, especially for Photoshop-like "tools".

Yes you can do similar text effects. I am on a run so cant tell you exactly how to do it in Photo-Paint.

Re: Create text effect like in photoshop

    Hi again,

Here are two examples, see below, on how you can do it. (I also include an older tip on Unleash.com website as another example. Paste & copy the link in your browser: unleash.com/ramon/neon/ )

But here are my own two tips. Of my own two I would prefer my tip nr. 2. See highlighted differens on how you go about. Let me know if this is what you asked about. And remember the variations on this theme is many Big Smile And I made the glow on tip nr 1, a little differently on purpose. you can get similar effect with both tips. I use Photo-Paint X4, but version 12 would work fin doing this too. All these steps sound like many steps, but really are not. This took me about 1-3 minute because I had to drink coffee at the same time :-)

    Tip 1
Glow effect using Mask & Brush tool, Divide

    1. Dark bakground, in this case black.
    2. Write a text.
    3. Create a mask. Mask>Create>Mask from object
    4. Mask > Mask outline>Feather> 10
    5. Create a new object in the Docker
    6. Temporarily turn off text object
    7. Paint tool>Brush art brush> use DIVIDE (look to the left on property bar)
    8. Paint with another colour on the new object, in my case always darker yellow, lighter than the text colour
    9. Place the new coloured object underneath the text object

    Finished.

    Tip 2
Glow effect using Merge Mode and Mask

    1. Dark bakground, in this case black.
    2. Write a text.
    3. Create a mask. Mask>Create>Maks from object
    4. Mask > Mask outline>Feather> 10
    5. Create a new object in the Docker
    6. Temporarily turn off text object
    7. Paint tool>Brush art brush>
    8. Paint with another colour on the new object, in my case always darker yellow, lighter than the text colour
    9. Go to Effects > Blur > Gaussian Blur
    10. Place the new coloured object underneath the text object
    11. Select the the colour object, and in this case use the Merge Mode in the Docker.
    12. Use in this case Exclusion. You can also use Screen or Logical OR.

    Finished.

Re: Create text effect like in photoshop

Okey so now I used even more time to do this instead of my own work. Let me know if this is what you were looking for.

Here is another version on the same theme.
I used for Effects > Emboss, and on the darker sample, from within Emboss effect
changed the emboss colour to dark grey. From the former orange on the above sample.

I used the brush tool with a scruffy edge, nr 47 in the brush settings in Photo-Paint, and
the same edge brush for eraser tool to remove parts of the paint I painted yellow.

I also used the Camera lens flare for ligting effects.

yea that's what i wanted to do along that lines, i'll experiment with it.

Thank you for taking the time to show me how to do it.

I was wondering if you guys ever experience corel crashing after trying to put some effects on it like the transparency  or when creating an effect.
