Super Angry [8o|] X3 window locking up?

I just installed the upgrade to X3 and after starting the app I can do a few things then the app locks up.  I can not move the X3 window around the desktop, resize the window, drag anything???  The only thing I can do is view the menus, select an item from the menu, select an item on the page or shut down the app and restart.  This is VERY frustrating and the customer support sucks.Angry  I've been waiting on the phone for 45 min before I shut it off, and the email help sucks because you can't get a hold of anyone.  I hope someone here has some solution or at least something to look at or try.  Someone, Anyone, Bueller?  Bueller?

OK, first, take a deep breath, get a tall glass of something cool, and
don't panic. You've actually come to the right place for help.

You say you installed the upgrade to X3. What did you have before that?
I assume you installed over an old version of CorelDRAW. (As opposed to
updating by adding a service pack.)

If you had the Trial version, did you uninstall it first before
installing CorelDRAW X3? (If so, uninstall everything COMPLETELY, and
delete all the folders with the Corel name on them. Then try reinstalling.)

Did you disable your Anti-Virus program (from checking new
installations) before you installed? Seems like there was also an issue
with some brands of firewall software, but it's been so long I don't
remember. It hasn't come up recently.

Are you installing on Windows XP or Vista? If Vista, have you installed
SP2 or does your version already include SP2? (Box should say Vista
ready or something to that effect if the patch is already applied.)

Did you import any workspaces from previous versions?
If so, restart CorelDRAW X3 from the Start menu while holding down the
F8 key on your keyboard. When the dialog comes up, choose Reset to
Factory Defaults. Many of the things in previous version workspaces can
cause major problems in X3 because they either don't exist or have had
major changes in X3. Once you get a working version of X3, you can
import just a few of the options from your old workspace at a time until
you find the culprits. In particular, Dockers and Print preferences are
    known to cause problems.

You can try the F8 thing no matter what, and see if it helps.

You may need to re-install the CorelDRAW suite. If so, UNinstall it
first, then try the install again.

I'm headed out for the evening, so I hope something in here helps.
Others will probably check in on you as well if you answer some of my
    questions above.

Let us know how it turns out. X3 really is a pretty great piece of
software, but installation problems can sour that shiny new box feeling
    pretty quickly.

Ok, I'm breathing deeply or at least breathing...  Lets get started here, I was born...

    Been using Corel since V9.

Went from 9 to 12 which I've used the last few years.  On a Dell, XP pro Service pack 2, 1 gb ram, 3 ghz hyperthreading, etc.  Recent hard drive failure made me get a new drive 160 reinstall Dell recovery disks, and all the rest of the software I've been using for the last 7 yrs.  I've got AVG anti-virus and Zone Alarm.
    I installed X3 and hotpatch 1

    http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite?c=Content_C1&cid=1153321224268&lc=en&pagename=CorelCom/Layout&pid=1151092456309

I did not disable the virus or firewall on install and have done the F8 thing and a number of uninstalls/reinstalls.  On the reinstall the app works fine for the first few minutes then something will happen and the window will freeze (only corel)  all the rest move around the screen easily.  The support folks finally sent me something that said my app was corrupt and to uninstall/reinstall.  hmmm...

I do open up V12 docs as I've got clients that need things and their files were created in 12.

I'm all ears as this is driving me crazy.  As soon as the app freezes I shut it down and fire it back up for a few keystrokes or design changes and when it freezes I do it all over again.Sad

    Thanks for the help,

    Hello,

Sounds nuts, but I changed my mouse to a USB instead of serial and haven't had a problem since. Draw would hang on me once in a while before, mostly during drag and drop operations.
