The episode begins with the Enterprise getting a distress signal from the disaster or distress beacon from the Constellation. When the Enterprise find is, it is free floating amongst rubble and badly damaged. The bridge is totally uninhabitable. Kirk, Scotty and McCoy, as well as other officers, beam aboard a part that can sustain life. There they find Commodore Matt Decker, the Captain of the constellation. He is the only person left on board. The other 40+ crewmembers were beamed down to a planet that no onger exists...destroyed by the planet killer...the Doomsday Machine.</p> <p>I tried my best to recreate the ship in its damaged form. This is from a pic of the enhanced episode. The pic I found of the original, which was an AMT store bought model treated with a flick of the bic, was really poor. This one was clearer.</p>
