For the new comic issue...

He's working in a nowadays state-of-the-art office: can't have enough monitors, and yet a smartphone in front, bluetooth headset, infrared supertactile keyboard, ergonomic chair...and anti-allergic plastic plants!!! The absolute opposite to Lisbeth.

Comic "Daniel & Lisbeth"

This is the first Strip of a Comic published every three Months in a german Telemarketing Magazine. I had a lot of fun elaborating the Characters, and it was also fun to mix different techniques in Corel DRAW to create the Comic. Corel DRAW is great for quick comic drawing: I remember I first started to do the line work in Photopaint, but found out that it is much faster to do it in DRAW with the artistic media pen tool.

An entry to a forum challenge on CG GAllery/itsartmag.com.

My vision was about a poor guy who had diarrhoe after he tried the food of the early 1930s. He was tied to the toilet and would miss the timetravel wormhole if he doesn't hurry.

I put that funny theme into an extreme perspective, to increase dramatism. Done with Corel Photopaint X5

vector portrait, CorelDRAW X5

My first commercial vector portrait on commission. Done in CorelDRAW X5: it's entirely created with vector shapes and blends (nope, no meshfill this time), similar to Alexxx' technique (Thank you for posting your fine Art for study purposes: http://coreldraw.com/media/p/83313.aspx, it is described here: http://coreldraw.com/wikis/howto/creating-shadows-and-soft-edged-objects-using-only-vectors.aspx).

The advantages of the X5 Version made it easy to create this portrait relatively fast:

the new bezier tool is great to draw rounded shapes which can be edited later, especially in blends they are absolutely usefull!
everywhere a colorpicker: separately in the tool palette and even in the color palette flyouts! Why wasn't that invented earlier?
the Artistic Media Brushes were polished up in X5: Super-smooooooth and even better when you use a bezier line as control curve...

Hope For The Last Plant

"In the year 2156 the scientist monks of the "Green Order" recreated the first living plant after the Last World War - standing the nuclear holocaust." - Could be a good science fiction story, though the concept is well known.

This is a piece I spent much time on, creating it in Corel Photopaint X5. I started with a basic composition with a central perspective viewpoint and blocked out the main shapes. After the composition was satisfying to me I started to arrange technical shapes with a stamp-like brush randomly. At this stage the abstraction level was nearly too high to get clear and realistig shapes, but I decided to keep that through the whole detailing progress. I would like to hear what you think about the composition, the artistical expression (brush strokes and level of detail) and color mood. I hope you get thinking about the damages we do to nature every day. In a not-so-far future we might be alone in ruins...

Done in CorelDRAW X5. This Illustration had some rendering limitations defined by the customer: It was wished as SVG file, so I produced this only with radial and linear fountain fills, without the use of transparency. Only vectors, no bitmaps or meshfills used. The beduine and the camel outline were handdrawn in Photopaint, then traced and filled with smart fill tool, then elaborated with the bezier tool and artistic media tool. The rest was mostly done with bezier tool and artistic media tool.
