Another version of the infographic map I posted earlier. However, this proved to be a bigger challenge with the addition of more data from a new sponsor, as well as the re-adjustment of layout for a foldable horizontal road map. Much compromise were made in terms of overall size and content for convenience and legibility in order to arrive at the final artwork.

As always, all elements were assembled in CorelDraw X5 while images were adjusted in Corel Photo-Paint X5.

2011 calendar study

One of several pages of a promotional calendar study I made with a colleague of mine as a pitch for a project with a major food company here in the Philippines. I wanted to emphasize how good food can be part of good memories, especially with family and friends, using a collection of items from memorable events (birthdays, family picnics, etc). displayed in shadow boxes. Unfortunately, the company rejected this study as they felt this was too upscale and beyond its intended target market and went with another studio. (Probably the Easter eggs did made it feel more appropriate for higher-income families)

Images were edited in CorelPhoto-Paint and assembled in CorelDRAW X5.

This is one of several infographics I've done for a local travel blog here in the Philippines (and one of the reasons why I haven't been able to post any updates on my gallery). The amount of detail in this infographic is just one of several challenges involved in doing this project. Please note that the image here is not the final artwork as the file is just too large for this gallery, and reducing the file size would make some elements hard to read. You can check out the final output here.

All elements were done in CorelDraw X5.

Earlier logo studies for the Distrito night food market. I've originally wanted study 3 but the client eventually went with study 4. They probably though study 3 was "a bit formal" compared to study 4 which may have emphasized the carefree ambiance of the night food market.

Promotional flyer/poster study for a new food market featuring food trucks. This was the first of its kind in the country so we had to get creative in making this a hit among food lovers. All elements were created and assembled in CorelDraw.

An updated version of the Soderno flyer I made back then. This was done to commemorate its reopening in 2012. Unfortunately, this closed down at the start of 2013 due to dwindling sales despite the huge following among food lovers.

My entry for an art contest for Hyundai Philippines wherein winning entries will be featured in its 2013 calendar, as well as cash prizes for the artists of the 12 selected works. Unfortunately, this didn't made the deadline despite having sent this three days before the deadline. (The organizers said they do not have a record of my entry being sent. Go figure.) Needless to say, may questions were raised after the winners were revealed.

This is where the Hyundai ambigram tattoo was used. (Also, "Simula" means "onset" or "start" in the local vernacular)

Banayad Whiskey

This was done as a personal tribute to Dolphy, A legendary comedian and well-loved TV and movie actor from the Philippines, whose work entertained several generations. When news of his death came to be, he was treated like a national treasure and people from all walks of like (even the President) paid tribute to him.

One of his memorable scene was from an old movie called "Father and Son" where he played a dad trying to get a job for his son and his family. One of the jobs was for a spokesperson for a brand of whiskey called Banayad Whiskey ("Banayad" means "smooth" in the local vernacular) which, ironically, was too strong for consumption. This apparently ended with hilariously disastrous results after several attempts to look composed while drinking the strong liquor. (See the clip here)

After maintaining my composure after laughing so hard watching this clip, I was inspired to do my take on the package design for this "smooth" whiskey. I wanted to use his face to show exactly what it feels when you drink this product. The tag line, his honest opinion while intoxicated with the product, translates to "Only an idiot would drink this!!"

Levi's ad spoof

My niece posted this picture of her on her Facebook account. Commenting that her picture looks good enough to be in an ad, I thought that I'd see what it would look like and do that ad myself. Upon uploading this to her page she was very happy when she saw it, saying that she always wanted to appear in a print ad and now she knows how it feels. She might have fooled some of her friends as well when they saw this, thinking it was an actual ad.

Fake it 'til you make it, I guess.
