FontTesterPlus 1.4

FontTesterPlus is a tool that allow you to browse and explore the fonts installed on your system. It also allow you to test your fonts with various typography technologies such as GDI, GDI+, OpenType, Uniscribe, DirectWrite and WPF Typography. At its roots, it is made by software developers for software developers but can also be used by font designer to test their fonts and end users to test and explore their fonts.

It has a lot of subtle but very powerful features and should be updated occasionally.

Yes, the user interface is atrocious, it is difficult to use, buggy and flaky but it can be very useful to get extended information about the fonts you have installed on your system.

It is provided to you by Corel free of charge but also without any support. In other words, you use it at your own risk. I will not run a virus scan on it, it is your responsability.

If you have questions about it, you can try asking here and I may reply if I have time but don't be offended if I do not : remember, it is not supported.

If after installing it you get error messages on launch, ensure you installed the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)" (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555) first. This version will NOT work on Windows XP.

Update 1.1

Added Digit substitution support to the Uniscribe OpenType and Direct Write Window.
Rework my Language support. Now the language of your string is no longer defined by the OpenType Language field. Instead, it is defined by a new field in the "Font Selector->More Properties" section. That field applies to both USP and DW and is not limited by what OpenType Languages specific features are provided by your selected font.
This version also fix the broken "ScriptItemizeOpenType" section.

In the Miscellaneous docker, I changed the OpenTypeFeatures mode in such a way that it now list all the OpenType tables in the drop down next to the mode drop down.
Selecting an item in that Drop down will render a visual representation of the rules (lookups) that are used to implement the selected feature.
I did not implement all the lookup types yet but most of them are.

Update 1.4

You can now view the font Panose Numbers information from the Miscellaneous docker.
You can now view the font name table from the Miscellaneous docker.
You can now view the font kerning table from the Miscellaneous docker.
The font Panose Numbers are output in the otfeatures.txt file when using the "Dump installed font info..." command from the tool menu.
Added some font embedding support to it to test it out.
Fixed some draw metric problems and some DirectWrite Bidi issues.
Fixed the MultiByteToWideChar window.

I have been searching for this for so long! I still can't find the actual CDR file but here's the story. Back when I was a kid I had CorelDRAW 3 and I used the blend tool to make something very much like this. It was so extensive that the computer had a hard time rendering it so when I opened draw and launched the file it would do all the blends roughly 3 pieces per second in quite a psychadelic display of color. People loved the art but they REALLY loved watching it load that way. Years later after that computer was long gone alone with all it's data I started working here at Corel and my mother bugged me about making the Chameleon again so I re-did one. Then I lost that file as well :( I knew I backed it up on one of my web servers but...I'm not exactly that organised so it's taken me 4 years but I found the bitmap version today lol. Gotta post it here and on Facebook before I lose the blasted thing again!

This is a logo I made a while back and basically the idea is that if I were to come into some extra cash it would be "fun" to run an ice cream parlor, named after my little replica of a fresh water motoro stingray, Zoey. I'm intollerant to dairy and my husband is deathly allergic to peanuts and honestly we both miss going out for an ice cream together. One solution to that is run one ourselves one day, if we ever won the lotto, offering a Peanut Free environment, Soy ice cream options and even Sugar Free ice cream options so that people with allergies, intollerances and diabetes can all enjoy going out for ice cream again. Not a bad idea eh? It's up to you LottoMax!

X4/X5 Mesh comparison

This graphic demonstrates how X4 and X5 renders meshes. X4 has horizontal, vertical and diagonal artifacts visible where X5 doesn't. (I also needed to turn off colour management in X4 to match the bright colours in X5).
