This is an illustration for my new book.
I have found in ancient documents an interesting history, which was in Russia at the beginning of the XVI century. Dear and the famous man who owed from the state to survey land, allocate land, the norm of the law recorded in the land of the prince. All would have been nice if at the time did not place the centralization of land around Moscow (what is now known as Russia). In the end, after the death of the prince of Vologda (one of the northern regions of Russia) the land the great tsar considered his. As a result, the poor old man sat in prison 7 years, and did not know it or not released. I think that the punishment was for his freedom.

Cruel punishment carried out in Moscow at the famous Red Square. While the red Kremlin is just beginning to be built by Italian architects. Man tied to a snowy winter for ice-tilted pole standing-sitting to know when he lost consciousness. The executioner took the whip hand, which consisted of three parts connected by an iron ring so that the executioner could not control the force of impact. Sometimes the punishment lasted from morning till night. As reliable information women 21 years remained live after almost 200 strokes! At one stroke this had to whip up to half an hour. In his picture, I tried to show a man who has not committed to what he was accused. The man who was the victim of the circumstances of the brutal Russian history XVI century. The man who founded one of the largest cities under Moscow, and the history of which I was lucky enough to find out. I hope you are interested

in very few places - even today - may a man speak without fear. No amount of wealth exceeds the value of liberty.
