This is a CorelDRAW 12 vector illustration made up of about 850 pieces. After completing the vector illustration, I rasterized the picture, mapped it onto a polygon in a 3D app. (lightwave), lit it and exported it as a Tiff. I will document this technique soon in my blog here at CorelDRAW.com.
