I had this problem with my V12 and I was trying to associate the extension (.tif, .jpg, etc) with Corel PhotoPaint in Windows (XP in my case). WRONG! This may not work in Vista but it might be worth a try... Go to Tools>Options>Global>Filters>Associate and make sure that CDR checked and anything...

Getting invalid file format when I try to open old CDRs

I have 100+ files made with version 8.0. When I kept getting the invalid file format message on all I tried, I uninstalled my version 8 and installed version 12 which I had on hand. It does now work either. Tried Answer IDs 201460 and 753535 but could not impliment the solutions they recommended. Don
