  • Time to Set the Camera

With the recent passage of the time boundary separating Standard Time from Daylight-savings Time, a reminder posed on the Yahoo group of the Minneapolis Photographic Society caused me to think about time and Digital SLR cameras. “Now I am in danger of being accosted by the EXIF police.” In the days of...

  • Costa Rica: Live!

Greetings blog readers. Today, I sit on a covered porch in Costa Rica watching the rain in the rainy season in the rainforest.  It has rained for about 24 hours straight and the photography has been limited to the reach of my lens from my shelter. Fortunately the resort has wireless Internet so...

  • For Lack of a Better Word

Graphic designers have it easy by comparison. • Software to Watch - TinEye

I stumbled across TinEye on the Imaging Pro Blog and thought, “Hmmm this has potential…” For those of us who create and voraciously defend material of our own copyright, TinEye looks right up our alley. • Re: Raw camera file conversion

I would recommend you look hard at the Canon DPP software that came with your camera. It is a very good raw converter with many nice features. You can download the latest version free from Canon's website. Then you won't have to use a credit card.

  • Horizon straightening made easy

Well, actually it is easiest if you get them straight in camera. Those who use PhotoPaint and have seen PSP or LightRoom in action can develop Horizon Correction envy. It is actually quite easy to correct horizons in PhotoPaint without scripts or complex calculations. I have put a tutorial (1.4 MB Video...
