• Transparency Problem

I work for an advertising agency and use Corel Draw X4 on a daily basis. I frequently have to send PDF files to newspapers for them to print which I generate using Corel. Until recently I have encountered no problems, and have not altered my workflow in any relevant way. In the last couple of weeks,...

  • Here's a funny one... Illo V CD X4

I had to output some complex art with drop shadows to a TechWin UV 1600 straight onto corflute. The files came from CD X4 and Illo CS3 both were exported to EPS with no flattening or converting of shadows to bitmaps etc. they were then ripped using the industry standard Caldera RIP software which is...

  • Re: Drop shadows in PDF
Well I can tell you you are wrong in a way. The drop shadows in Acrobat 5 and higher are rendered as transparent objects, not bitmaps.
CorelDRAW Drop shadows are bitmaps. CorelDRAW re-renders (rebuilds) them each time you edit their control object. You can...

  • Re: X4 Drop Shadow

In X4, you don't need to use a composite black or pantone black, because now the Drop Shadow is a rectangle with transparency in Multiply mode (in CorelDRAW v12 was a bitmap). The C0M0Y0K100 color works fine

  • X4 Drop Shadow

I am currently trying out X4 while I decide whether to upgrade from V12 (which ive been very happy with and use on a daily basis). My main reason for upgrade would be for full compatibility with Vista. Just doing some work on it at the mo and am adding a Drop Shadow preset of Small Glow and notice that...

  • Re: Shadow Effect

we are using software with origins in desktop publishing. because that industry has a fixed viewing distance, it makes sense that they look at dpi as some golden rule to be followed. it took me lots of lost time and money to discover this rule... dpi decreases as size increases. there is no optimal dpi...

  • Re: Items not adressed in SP1

drop shadow on artistic text + outline + behind fill acts as if the text has no fill...meaning only the outline portion receives a drop shadow. if i convert the text to curves first, then apply the outline, and select "behind fill" the subsequently applied drop shadow behaves fine (or "normally"...

  • X4 Only Drop Shadow Issue - Anyone Else?

I have only seen this one in X4, and I'm not sure if I've seen anyone else post it, but it does seem easy to duplicate... First, create some text and put a drop shadow on it. Looks normal. (Using a bold font will help the example) Then add an outline and in the object properties, set the outline...

  • Drop shadows over PowerClip - anyone else see this?

This is something I've been seeing intermittently for at least 7 years. I told myself I'd finally post it and see if anyone else has seen this. With each new version of Draw, I always think maybe they've fixed this bug. Or maybe it's just not seen that often. But it still exists in X4...
