Moving CDR X4 GS to new PC

I want to move my CorelDRAW X4 Graphics Suite to a new PC .

My old email address is dead - so I can't get support from Corel Directly.

I downloaded the original software, and tried it on the new PC, but I only get a 15 day trial.... Any ideas?

Filed under: using a scaner after creating a new project page

This is my problem whenever I start a project and create a NEW page I completly lose the ability to "save as", "scan in a picture" or any of the other functions the drop menu when use "FILE"? I know the program worked when I first installed and I have no idea wha happened. If this happened someone out there and fixed I would apprecitate it.

At least once a week if not more often, someone posts to the forum about getting unwanted duplicates when moving objects. There seems to be about three different things that have been reported so far to cause this duplication anomaly.

1. You are using a Logitech mouse. Some users have reported that it is the driver that comes with the mouse is the culprit behind the unwanted duplicates.

Fix: Some users have reported that installing the latest driver for their mouse has helped. However, for other users, the best solution has been to remove the installed Logitech software and use the Windows default/generic driver for their particular Logitech mouse. This may affect some of the functions of your mouse.

2. Your Spacebar bar is sticky.

Fix #1: If your keyboard really IS sticky...did you spill something on it? You need to clean it :-).

Fix #2: If you have enabled Windows "sticky keys" accessibility feature, you will need to change the settings or turn it off. Pressing the SHIFT key fives times in succession turns the sticky key function on or off (Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7).

3. You have been running CorelDraw and/or your computer for long periods of time without rebooting. No one is sure why this happens, it could be related to memory (computer or video)...or not cleaning out your Windows temp files. Users with older and newer computers have reported the duplicates issue, but it is too hard to pinpoint the cause.

Fix: Try closing and restarting CorelDraw first. If that does not work, reboot your computer.

Did you know that?

1. PRESSING ALT+V+A ALT then V and then A brings you to a thumbnail display, called page sorter view, of all pages contained within the open file youwork 're working withone single file open. You can also navigate under the menu to VIEW | PAGE SORTER VIEW. The pick tool is the only tool available in this view. You can re-order pages using this view by dragging the thumbnails around. Right click a certain page to delete, insert or rename them. There is an exit page sorter view button in the top main button area which will exit this mode.

2. If you have more than one file open, HOLDING down CTRL while tapping pressing the TAB key... key allows you can to toggle through the open files to select which file that is open..currently being used. and while dragging You are able to drag objects from either of the open files you can and drop them into what ever other another open files file you wish them to be placed in.

Others will attempt to rebuild your artwork or create something in a similar theme. By doing so, users broaden their horizons and skill set by using tools or creating design elements that they normally might not.

When posting new challenges, upload intermediate or advanced level artwork from your use of CorelDRAW and/or PHOTO-PAINT (state which of these was used so that others can attempt artwork in the same program(s)).

TIP: If your artwork is uploaded as a bitmap (GIF, JPG, PNG), the largest dimension (width or height) per image should be 650 pixels. Then it'll fit into the forum area without scaling downwards. These images will also download quickly for all users.

When exporting vector objects from CorelDRAW X4, using the EPS filter, and then opening the EPS with a bitmap editor such as PHOTO-PAINT, one pixel will be added to the document's size.

2. In CorelDRAW, set the page size to match the size of your objects and then export.
If the page size is bigger than the objects, one pixel will be added when the EPS is opened with a bitmap editor.

The default merge mode for the dropshadow transparency is "Multiply".

A glow or white dropshadow can be accomplished by setting the merge mode to "Normal" or "Add".

Why are bitmaps not overprinting?

There are two overprint modes -- Mode 0 and 1. The This mode changes the bahaviour when dealing with CMYK colours.

Mode 0 will always use the CMYK colour of the topmost object. In other words, CMYK colours underneath will be knocked out. Spot colours below, however, will remain and the CMYK colour will be overprinted.
Mode 1 basically treats the C, M, Y and K channels separately and each channel works as if it were a spot colour.

PDF always forces bitmaps to use Mode 0. For CorelDRAW to correctly support output of overprints to PDF, CorelDRAW also forces bitmaps to use Mode 0.

Vector objects use Mode 1.

The default orientation for the text tool has been changed.

To revert the default orientation to horizontal:

1. With no objects selectselected, switch to the text tool
2. Press "Ctrl+," (Ctrl+comma)

Ctrl+, (Ctrl+comma) sets the selected text to horizontal
Ctrl+. (Ctrl+period) sets the selected text to vertical

When no text object is selected the default will be set.

A trial version has a 15 day time limit. When the time limit is reached some menu items (e.g. save, save as) will be disabled. Purchasing the product or requesting a trial extension will reactivate the menu items.

Why is my hole filled after combining?

The winding rule of the object is set to "Winding" instead of "Alternating".

There are a few methods to fix this problem. Reversing the filled hole subpath will make the hole non filled. An alternative method is to run the following macro with the object selected.

How did the winding rule set to "Winding"?

Most likely, one of the objects which were combined was originally a text object which was converted to curves. Some fonts have overlapping characters (e.g. a script font). When text is converted to curves the winding rule is set so that holes do not appear on the overlapping section.
