ok, finally went to install and update X6 via the internet.  what a drag/problem I knew this would be... so here goes.

Installed the intial X6 fine, got email for 90 days tech support etc..I guess it activated and sent serial to my account/corel.  ..went to update to 6.1...seemed to install fine... seemed to see something about getting a STANDARD membership.  So figured..ok...going great... well.... went to install 6.2 and the problem started.

now it says I don't have a level of membership or something?  cannot install 6.2 or the hotfix after.

I will contact customer support when I get a moment, but wondering if anybody knows why this is happening.  such a drag jumping through hoops just to UPDATE my software.  I don't care about the extra MEMBER features...I want the FIXES...which should install if member status is FINE or NOT FINE.

I might just stick with X5 as it is working fine...i.e. doesn't BOMB when UPDATING TEXT of prior version files, new way of powerclip annoyance etc.

well, finally got an answer from Corel... obviously the X6 package I purchased from a so-called reputable HIGH POSITIVE FEEDBACK seller obviously scammed me.  Maybe Paypal refund is an option but not counting on it.  all in all the serial in the package wasn't a "corel-generated" serial so no wonder I couldn't do anything.  whatever...done with this friggn mess....

Corel does trawl over ebay looking for pirated software....the ads come down and go up with different user name in the space of an hour...it's just horrible.

I updated to version 6.3 and am on a 64 bit ver.  I went to open a drawing with only a text box and rectangle on it.  I edit text pull down on the text box, change the wording and crash coreldraw when I try to get out.  Crashed 10 times.  Ended up re-installing original version.  Anyone else have a similar problem with x6.3?

During the installation you should have a message that prompt ypu that the install program will remove the database of FontNavigator. So, you must open FontNavigator before use CoreldRAW and search for font on ypur local hard disk drive, for create a new database

Hi,

If Corel is closed today the 27th december, they are open again after the holiday. Quite common in most western countries at this time of year, so after new year they will start to be open for service again :-)

Corel official statement HOTFIX
http://coreldraw.com/blogs/gerard/archive/2012/12/17/x6-2-hot-fix-1-coming-later-this-week.aspx

Corel official statement X6.2
http://coreldraw.com/blogs/gerard/archive/2012/11/29/coreldraw-graphics-suite-x6-2-available-today.aspx

When you buy the Box/download version of X6.0 you can upgrade for free to the X6.1.  if you have a STANDARD membership, which is totally free.If you DONT register a Standard membership, you WONT be able to download/upgrade your program with "Service packs" now called "Update 1" and so forth.

The X6.2 is also free -except for the extra features/tools, contents etcetera. Those features are tools and features you would traditionally only get when the next version of CorelDRAW/Photo-Paint comes out, that would be X7. It takes about 2 years inbetween versions of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, so these extra features are made available earlier through Corels general development of a new version, and only for those with a PREMIUM Membership. And Premium is for those who pay to get new features and tools AHEAD of others.

STANDARD MEMBERSHIP
If you buy Box/Download version and dont register your product with a FREE Standard Membership, you wont get free upgrades/service packs as it was called before.

PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP
Premium as said is for those who like to have tools and features ahead of time, before the next version.

X6.0 | X6.1 | X6.2| Hotfix 1 | - all these updates are free (for Standard members) except the extra tools/feautures and contents for Premium members.

Why your X6.2 isnt working can be of several causes. You could try these two options

1) Look in your lower right corner for a orange or green symbol - it should be GREEN, and no need to ever make it orange. Yes unfortunately it is a human body/head symbol, but its NOT that you are surveiled by Corel, only connected to your account. Unfortunately Corel choosed a symbol that freak some people out.

If this symbol is Orange, then click/hoover over and choose "Sign in" and it becomes GREEN. Again some gets nervous over the wording "Sign in" and "Sign out" - which is very common wording, but for some reason makes some people freak out just because its their program/or/and Corel.com website using the word. But again, you are only connected/Confirming your account ( AND you can disconnect your internet if you like and there is no problem if you feel uncertain, and still use your program, just see to that you connect when you confirm/download your free downloads etcetera).

2) Go to www.corel.com and in the upper right corner click "Sign in" and view your account. In there you will see under "Memberships and Subscriptions" if your memberships STandard vs. Premium is avtivated or maybe something else.

3)

OBSERVE!!! you HAVE to be signed in - GREEN icon - when you UNINSTALL your program, so therefore no worries to be going orange icon. This is for your account at Corel to have your INSTALL COUNT up to date. If you uninstall more than 5 times I believe it is, without being connected to your account, you wont be able to install again. And then you have to call Corel to have it sorted.

Why this???

Piracy of course

Like Stefan says, check your Corel account and see what serial number has been activated for X6.
Chances are that you have used the wrong password or something when trying to activate X6.2, and therefore Corel doesn't recognize you.

Hmmm, How can I fix this?

Not knowing how Corel's new Membership thing worked, I installed CorelDraw X6 on my system at work using the boxed version our company bought. When I signed in I used my personal email address because I didn't want my Corel email blocked by the company spam filter (which sometimes happens).

Afterward, I bought CorelDraw X6 for use at home, and I used my personal email again.

What I would like to do is have the work installation refer to my work email address. How do I change the default email address related to the copy I have on my work system? Or does it even matter?

Thanks

Hello folivio; About the last post. you may have to wait for Corel to open after New Years, but you should be able to run the program until then. If you are using the 64 bit ver. expect some trouble until you get the 6.2 update. With the 6.2 update the program run very good.

Thanks SignGuy. I have been able to install the updates. I was just wondering how to get the registration straightened out. Thanks again...

I don't think it matters, Frank.

If you already have installed both and they work, then everything is fine.
Without knowing, I suspect you have to contact Corel to split your account in two.

Hope this is in the right place, but I have a issue with membership & updates. I've been a Corel user since ver 2. I'm sitting with a bit of a dilemma. I now teach (for free) graphics to youngsters and silver surfers in a small village just up the road from where I live in Wales. The problem is I have 10 workstations with ligit Corel X6 + PhotoShop which have no internet access or the ability to connect whatsoever as they are to far from the exchange. How the heck am I supposed to update/patch Corel if none of the units have the ability to connect to the internet. This community spent allot of hard earned money to purchase their software and it looks as if I am going to stop teaching just because corel decided we have to be members to download anything .... Just because I purchased a peugeot doesn't mean I have to become a member to drive it or get it serviced .... I'm really upset Crying

E X A C T L Y !!!!!

SEE WHAT I MEAN!

Quite rediculous.

I know tech support is closed for the holidays, but I don't have time to jump through ACTIVATION hoops right now, especially being the NEW YEAR, I just went ahead and put back on X5 with the normal updates (without a user TETHER (handcuff) to Corel to DO SO!)  X5 WORKS JUST FINE I SEE ANYWAYS VERSUS X6.  X6 doesn't seem to have much more anyways, except for the built-in HANDCUFF to Corel now.

I will attempt putting back on X6 at a later date as I do not have time to deal with Corel and DEPENDING on them letting me UPDATE or NOT!  I could ONLY update to X6.1  but I need the 6.2 and HOTFIX to work properly like ANY software should be able to!!!  If the developer feels there are problems with their program and willing to fix it via updates...then we should be able to FREELY download as usual and update without any sort of TETHER.

I typically stay ahead and use the latest and greatest versions of my software and their updates...but with X6 and 6.2...  it is RESTRICTING me from doing so.  Not happy...  now is the time to finally decide if I want to be tied down like this.  since ultimately it's about PIRACY....the PIRATES still have it made and will ALWAYS continue to do so and us that pay have to jump through hoops or be down when we cannot afford to while the pirates just float on by without problems.  That goes for all software, not just CorelDRAW.  Just face it Corel... you cannot win..  in the end, you may end up losing more customers because of this so-called "great idea".  : (

Now,

We were not able to update before either if we did not have an internet connection. We always had to go online, download the SP and install it. I believe I read an official recomendation by Corel about this situation of yours. No worries as it will possible.

That's not fair. The customer service MUST work in shifts, 24 hours a day, every day of the year, whether holidays or not.

At least, in Brazil, that's how big companies who have respect for their users work.

Hello Silvio; Canada and the US and some other countries take some of the Holidays off, Now the US takes more Holidays than any of them I guess, you can't even mail a letter on the days some people were born/died. It does give the working people something to look forward to. ( To me every day is a holiday Big Smile
But one thing that I don't understand is How can people post here and not be able to get the updates because of no internet? Hmm  I think I would down load the update to a thumb drive or DVD using my account with Corel and load it on the computer Corel is on and run the update.

When I learnet that people in the USA still use Phone modem for their internet I was surprised. I am not surprised anymore people not able to download ;-)

But I believe Gérard at Corel wrote an explanation for these particular situations. But he and Corel is back in business in january I believe.

Silvio, SWEDEN is slowing down business quite a lot for many companies, so called "industrial vacation" in july. And second half of june and first half of august its really slow. Its the summer.

Almost everyone does the same. In Spain, for example, you will have only health emergency or car accident. Especially this year, most companies do not work in 24th and 31th, therefore, only have three days to work, so it's better to have two weeks for the holidays. Since also coincide with school holidays, many families take the opportunity to enjoy a family vacation together. Moreover, as there are very few who work at that time, calls usually very few. In our countries, usually work even on Christmas.
